The different types of grape variants that are used in the particular vintage can also be clearly tasted.
Krug sparkling wines are often used to make ordinary moments extraordinary with their exceptional flavor and aroma. Krug is also a popular choice in Sexclub Maxim Wien. There are two Krug champagnes on Maxim’s Champagne Card: Krug Grande Cuvée and Krug Rosé.
History of Krug
The Krug champagne house was founded in 1843 by Joseph Krug and it is located in the capital of the French champagne region, Reims. Before creating the house, Joseph worked as an accountant for Jacquesson, another well-known champagne house for eight years and in this time he learned the secrets of champagne brewing.
Joseph’s son Paul Krug inherited the business after his father passed away and he brought the champagne house’s fame to new heights. He was trained by his father in the profession of champagne making and once he took over the business, he started to branch out to overseas markets. By the 1880s, the Krug brand has been acknowledged as an exclusive champagne in the United Kingdom.
The house remained in the Krug family throughout the generations and it slowly became the household name it is today. The Krug champagne house produces around 500,000 bottles of fine vintage champagnes each year.
Krug Grande Cuvée
The Grande Cuvée is a truly unique champagne that can never be recreated or copied. Krug’s Grande Cuvée is created using more than 120 individual wines from three grape variants. Some wines that go into the blend are more than ten years old, which gives the Grande Cuvée the superb taste and the unprecedented bouquet it’s known for. On the palate, the champagne is surprisingly fresh, with notes of nougat, jellied fruits and sweet spices. Of course, the trademark Krug characteristics are also present in this vintage champagne.
Krug’s Grande Cuvée has become a sensation all around the world. Opening a bottle of Krug champagne in a higher class gathering, restaurant or club makes you instantly the center of attention. The Grande Cuvée is the perfect drink to order in Maxim if you want to impress a lady like Virginia.

The three grape variants that are used in Krug Rosé are: Pinot Noir, Chardonnay and Pinot Meunier. Each and every wine that goes into the blend gives the Krug Rosé unique and unmatched characteristics that you won’t find with other brewing houses. This is exactly why the Krug Rosé is one of Stefania’s favorite sparkling wines!
The Krug Rosé is a complex champagne that is rich with different types of flavors. On the nose, the aroma of the bubbly is fresh, with notes of exotic spices and red fruits. The taste of Krug Rosé is reminiscent of citrus and dried fruits. With its elegant pink color and well-refined bubbles, the Krug Rosé deserves one of the top spots when it comes to the best rosé champagne money can buy.
